How SierraGold Helped a Large Healthcare-Provider Network Control Costs on SIP Communications
A large healthcare provider network was looking to save money on its telecom expenses. Based in New Jersey, the healthcare network includes academic centers, acute care facilities and research hospitals.
As the largest healthcare provider in New Jersey, their goal is to create one integrated network to change how healthcare is delivered in the state. Managing telecom costs for the network is part of this integration.
The Challenge: Locate Routes Exceeding Allocated SIP Minutes
The healthcare organization determined the number of total minutes used per route could be controlled and limited. As a cost-saving measure, they enrolled in SIP pricing based on an allotment of minutes per route, rather than unlimited usage. After signing up for limited-use pricing, they discovered certain routes used more than their allotted minutes, resulting in extra-minute charges and cost overruns.
To control minutes used, the healthcare organization needed to know the status of minutes on each route throughout the billing cycle. They contacted SAI’s Professional Services staff to assist in locating and monitoring SIP minutes per route.
The Solution: SierraGold Total Minutes Report
To provide visibility into which routes were nearing limits each month, SAI used SierraGold to develop a custom report for the organization’s NEC switch.
The resulting Total Minutes Report provides weekly and month-end reports, which display total minutes by route per time period.
The Results: Minimized Extra Charges and Cost Overruns
With SierraGold Total Minutes Report, the healthcare organization is able to monitor total minutes used per route, then move calls away from those routes nearing their allotted usage.
The result is fewer instances of routes exceeding their allotted minutes, minimizing the extra-minute charges and cost overruns the organization had been experiencing.
